Development and technical advisory for the Picassent 107.91 MW / 215.824 MWh BESS, Spain
Project development plus technical consultancy — feasibility, storage sizing and regulatory review — for a 107.91 MW / 215.824 MWh battery storage project in Picassent (Comunitat Valenciana), currently in active development.
Sargao Energy was taking a utility-scale battery storage project forward in Picassent, in the Comunitat Valenciana. A standalone BESS of this size has to be sized and justified against a regulatory framework that governs how storage connects and operates, and the administrative track runs for years before construction. The client needed both the development work and the technical basis to support it.
One Hub Energy combined project development with technical consultancy on the same asset. The technical work covered feasibility analysis, sizing of the storage system and review of the applicable regulation for the 107.91 MW / 215.824 MWh configuration. Development ran in parallel and carried the project through its administrative milestones: admission of the administrative procedure (AA) in September 2024, environmental impact statement (DIA) in March 2025 and prior administrative authorisation (AAP) in March 2026. Technical assumptions and the permitting track were kept aligned as the project advanced.
"The BESS consultancy report was delivered to Sargao Energy. This is an ongoing mandate: the project is in active development, with AA, DIA and AAP obtained to date and no closed outcome to report yet."
