Testing whether storage pays across a PV portfolio, then taking it to a single site

Pre-feasibility modelling of storage hybridisation for Exiom's solar portfolio, built around sensitivities on demand access permits, market participation policies and PV-BESS sizing ratios, and extended into a dedicated BESS advisory mandate for the San Vicent del Raspeig site.

01
Background

Exiom, as a developer, wanted to know whether hybridising its solar plants with storage was worth pursuing before committing development effort. The answer does not depend only on the assets: it depends on whether demand access permits are obtained, on how the battery is allowed to participate in the markets, and on the ratio chosen between PV and battery. Those variables move the economics enough that a single central case would have been of little use.

02
Process

One Hub Energy prepared a pre-feasibility study of hybridisation with storage for the portfolio of solar plants, sized at 20 MW / 80 MWh. The work covered detailed production and cost modelling and estimates of long-term revenues and returns. Rather than a single case, we built the analysis as a sensitivity framework: scenarios on demand access permits, on different market participation policies, and on different PV-BESS sizing ratios, so Exiom could see which assumptions actually drove the result. The engagement was then extended to a dedicated BESS advisory mandate on the San Vicent del Raspeig project, 10 MW / 35 MWh, applying the portfolio methodology to a specific site.

03
Outcome

"The portfolio pre-feasibility was delivered with a detailed revenue analysis and the full set of sensitivity studies on access permits, market participation policies and sizing ratios. The San Vicent del Raspeig BESS advisory mandate is ongoing at the date of this record, so no closed result is reported for it."
