Buy-side technical advisory and origination support for a 500 MW BESS portfolio
Buy-side technical advisory for the acquisition of a 500 MW BESS portfolio in Spain, plus strategic consultancy for its origination: market assessment, NBO preparation support and identification of M&A opportunities.
EnerQuantum set out to build a 500 MW BESS position in Spain by acquisition. Storage assets in Iberia are priced off revenue expectations that are still forming, so a bid has to be defended with a technical and market view rather than a comparable. The client needed that view before putting a non-binding offer on the table, and needed a repeatable way to originate further opportunities afterwards.
One Hub Energy worked on the buyer's side of the table. The team supported the buy-side valuation of the 500 MW BESS asset portfolio and the preparation of the non-binding offer, and stayed engaged through the M&A negotiation. In a second, firm mandate, One Hub Energy delivered strategic consultancy for the origination of the 500 MW portfolio, built on a detailed BESS market assessment study for Iberia. From that base, One Hub Energy helped define the client's strategic guidelines and screened and identified M&A opportunities to feed the portfolio. The two strands were run so that the market view informed the valuation position, and the valuation experience fed back into origination criteria.
"The detailed market assessment study was delivered, together with the strategic guidelines and a set of identified M&A opportunities for the portfolio. The buy-side technical advisory for the 500 MW BESS portfolio acquisition remains an ongoing mandate, not a closed transaction."
