OneBESS: driving intelligent energy storage

One Hub Energy drives a new BESS development model with IDAE support

The energy transition needs more than clean technologies: it requires digital tools able to connect data, regulation and profitability, turning projects into viable, scalable assets.

With this vision OneBESS is born, a One Hub Energy project approved by the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE) under the "New Business Models in the Energy Transition" programme of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO).

An innovative model to accelerate storage deployment

OneBESS tackles one of the great challenges of the new power system: how to intelligently deploy battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Its goal is to offer an advanced digital platform that helps developers, investors and operators make informed decisions on siting, sizing, revenue modelling and regulatory analysis, all integrated in a single environment. The project combines energy analysis, financial modelling, grid simulations and optimisation algorithms.

Thanks to this, OneBESS will help identify investment opportunities, assess their profitability and prioritise locations that maximise the value of each BESS installation in an increasingly dynamic and competitive market.

A pillar within One Hub Energy's digital tools

OneBESS sits within the ecosystem of One Hub Energy's digital tools, alongside OneFlex Optimiser, One Hub Analytics and One Development Suite. All these solutions share a common purpose: to accelerate the energy transition through digitalisation, offering companies, institutions and developers a set of modular tools covering everything from project planning and development to operational optimisation and market analysis.

Impact and contribution to the energy transition

Energy storage is essential to integrate more renewables, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and ensure grid stability. With OneBESS, One Hub Energy aims to democratise access to advanced planning tools traditionally reserved for large operators, opening the door to a more efficient, collaborative and data-driven ecosystem.

Beyond its technological impact, the project will drive the creation of skilled jobs and consolidate in Spain a centre of knowledge in BESS modelling and optimisation, contributing to national and European energy and climate goals.

IDAE's approval of OneBESS is recognition of the digital innovation work One Hub Energy has been developing for years in smart energy. We thank IDAE and MITECO for their support of innovation in the energy transition. OneBESS has already begun its development phase and will soon start showing its first results.
