Casona de Labrada
A self-consumption and storage installation pursuing energy self-sufficiency at a rural hotel in Lugo.

An energy self-sufficiency project
We are proud to share the successful self-consumption PV installation at Casona de Labrada, near the town of A Pontenova, Lugo. This innovative project aims to achieve energy self-sufficiency, reducing dependence on external sources and ensuring a reliable electricity supply at all times.
What we achieved
- System capacity: a 19.2 kWp PV installation, capable of generating a total of 21,069 kWh per year, plus a 15 kWh storage installation to optimise solar surplus and arbitrage.
- Energy coverage: this system will cover 73.5% of the rural hotel's energy needs, significantly reducing dependence on the grid.
- Storage and backup: the system includes batteries to store excess solar energy and a 40 kVA diesel generator that activates in emergencies, ensuring the hotel can operate without interruptions.
- CO2 savings: this production will save 15,069 kWh from the grid, equivalent to avoiding 7,534.5 kg of CO2 emissions, comparable to the absorption work of 342 trees.
System hybridisation
The system comprises three single-phase Victron inverters, each with a nominal power of 15 kW, configured to form a three-phase grid that integrates in a hybrid way with the 15 kWh Pylontech storage system.
The 15 kWh batteries ensure that solar energy generated during the day can be used during low-production periods, such as at night or on cloudy days, guaranteeing a constant and reliable energy supply even in areas with unstable grids. A diesel generator covers emergencies, grid outages or power excesses, guaranteeing a continuous, uninterrupted and optimal supply.
Long-term benefits
This system not only improves the hotel's energy efficiency, but also minimises environmental impact and reduces long-term operating costs, making Casona de Labrada a benchmark for sustainability in the tourism sector.
