Introduction

One Hub Energy has been developing specific software for the valuation of battery energy storage projects at the meter front since 2020. OneBESS Analytics uses an advanced battery pricing engine, based on state-of-the-art dispatch optimization algorithms that determine the best operational strategies, maximizing trading revenues across all electricity markets while minimizing asset depreciation costs. It enables long-term simulations and project finance evaluations, helping customers to optimize the value of their projects and portfolios. Description

- Our model replicates the sequential closing of markets, optimizing bidding and scheduling strategies for day-ahead auctions, ancillary services availability commitment and intraday auctions.

- Perfect forecasting is considered at each scheduling phase, but imperfect forecasting of subsequent market conditions (sequential bidding phases) ensures realistic revenue estimate results.

- OneBESS Analytics is used on the basis of bankable market forecast curves, and enables project bankability through its detailed project finance toolkit and reporting modules.

- Location-specific market opportunities, such as technical constraints, are specifically included.

- Our methodology takes uncertainty into account. We include sensitivity analyses on different technical (e.g. degradation curves) and market (e.g. expected changes in market regulation) parameters for each valuation assessment, in order to provide robust results that optimize value but also allow us to quantify risks.

- Our project-specific assessments incorporate detailed technical assumptions of plant equipment and engineering decisions, allowing customers to compare different energy storage systems using our BESS equipment database.

- We continuously update the available technological alternatives and provide the most detailed cost estimates, thanks to our continuous contact with most of the leading BESS manufacturers.
